Participants will learn proper assessment of dangerous encounters, effective blocking and striking techniques, wrist manipulation, pressure points, as well as safe ways to fall. The more advanced lessons will include knife defense and defending against multiple attackers.
Brandon’s martial arts training started when he was four. He began studying Isshin Ryu karate, a style rooted in Okinawa, earning his first degree black belt in 2000. He was drawn to the integrity and precision of Soo Bahk Do, a classical South Korean martial art, while studying East Asian culture and language at the University of Albany. He began studying under Master Jared Rosenthal (6th Dan) and earned his first degree black belt in 2006. He began teaching Soo Bahk Do classes in 2005 and continued until 2010. He currently holds the rank of 3rd Dan and is an assistant instructor; he is working toward the title of Kyo Sa (Certified Instructor) as well as 4th Dan, which he plans to test for in the coming years with the help of Master Cort Stinehour (6th Dan), his current instructor.
